4700 BROADMOOR

4700 BROADMOOR AVENUE SE / GRAND RAPIDS “The Bosch Building”
HISTORY This 915,000 square foot facility was initially designed as a premier headquarters and manufacturing operation by Steelcase for its Stow and Davis wood furniture operations.
Bosch later acquired it from Steelcase to house their engine parts manufacturing business. Upon Bosch’s decision to downsize operations, Franklin Partners, LLC stepped in to buy the facility at a time when many people were concerned about the manufacturing economy and the sheer size of the facility.
SOLUTION In order to match current market demands and address obvious economical concerns, Franklin Partners would have to think outside the box. Our unique solution was to split the building in half!
RESULT What once served one company, now houses two. One 350,000 square foot facility has become the world headquarters for X-Rite and the other has become a 460,000 square foot world class manufacturing facility that is home to four high-skilled manufacturers, three of which are internationally based. These companies have invested millions of dollars into equipment and improvements and now employ hundreds of workers.
